Bars/Gates of the York Wall

There are 4 bars "gates" in the York Roman Wall, which surrounds the city. Here are some photos of them. The wall itself is 2 miles around and you have to get on and off it as it is not a continuous wall around the city.

Bootham Bar (This is right around the corner from the Museum Gardens and by Ashtons Letting Agents, which is whom we rent the house from here in York)

Walmgate Bar (see 2 photos below)

Monkgate Bar (there is a model train, car, airplane etc store to the left under the bar and the boys LOVE to look in the window)

Micklegate Bar (this is the one we walk under almost everyday going to and from town) Grandpa also has convinced the boys that the 2 doors in the top of the gate are for bad boys and bad girls. It definitely made an impact on Harrison.
