Flat Stanley
Ben Vogel was doing the Flat Stanley project in school and he wanted to send one to his "Aunt" Sarah. He arrived in May and was decorated to look like he was from the United States of America. He looked awesome!
Dear Ben,
Flat Stanley arrived in one piece, well except for a missing eye that fell off in the air mail envelope. We have had big plans for Flat Stanley. I think he enjoyed traveling around with us, but we may have worn him out. He takes long naps with the kids. He visited the following places:
1. The Roman Wall around the City of York United Kingdom
2. He rode a train to Edinburgh Scotland with Harrison
3. He walked up a steep hill to see Edinburgh Castle. He was a little scared of heights and had to cover his ears when the cannon was shot off.
4. He stood next to a Scottish man playing the bagpipes…I thought it was a little intrusive, but Flat Stanley insisted.
5. He went to the Elephant House to see where JK Rowlings wrote the first couple Harry Potter books and we shared a sweet treat.
6. He wanted to see the Grey Frair’s Bobby…a loyal dog who came to his owner’s grave daily after he passed away for 14 years.
7. He then took another train to Inverness and saw the LochNess Monster…or where he was supposed to be. This was a little scary, but he survived.
We had fun with Flat Stanley. Thanks for thinking of sending him to us.
Love,
Aunt Sarah
